A charming antique-style ceramic coffee pot in the French country tradition, glazed in a deep chocolate brown with two encircling bands of sponged cream and tan decoration. The banding technique — dabbed on to create a mottled, cloudlike texture — gives the piece its rustic character and places it in a long lineage of European country pottery.
The body is tall and slightly tapered, with a clean upward-curving spout and a sturdy squared handle. The interior is fully glazed in the same dark brown. The lid is absent, which makes the pot equally charming used as a flower vase or a utensil holder on the kitchen counter.
