Black Ash & Steel Bar Cabinet, 1970s

A sleek bar cabinet from the 1970s in black-stained ash, its open grain still visible beneath the deep finish. The case is framed top and bottom by bands of brushed steel, and the four doors are fitted with small cylindrical brass-toned knobs, grouped at the centre of the front for a clean, symmetrical look.
The upper doors open onto a bar compartment with a pale grey back panel, fitted with two cream bottle holders for three bottles each and an interior lighting system with a switch. Below, two further compartments separated by a central divider offer adjustable shelves for glasses and storage. Minimal, graphic and very much of its era, it works as a drinks cabinet in a living room or dining room, or as elegant storage in an entrance or office.
Condition
In good vintage condition with signs of age and use. The bar shelf in the upper compartment shows noticeable scratches and scuff marks, with the lighter wood showing through in places. There is small finish loss around one of the upper knobs, light surface scratches and small marks on the fronts, and wear on the lower interior shelves. The brushed steel bands show light scratches and marks. An old piece of tape remains under the top, next to the light fitting.
The interior lighting system is present (bulb, cable and switch), but the cable has no plug at its end and the lighting has not been tested. It should be fitted with a plug and checked by an electrician before use. Structurally solid and stable, and all doors open and close properly.
